If you have an Exceptional Residence due to Arraigo Laboral, Arraigo Social or Arraigo Familiar (child of a Spanish citizen of origin), once it expires (after one year) you cannot renew that residence, you must MODIFY it.
- The modification may be requested 60 days prior to the expiration of the residency and up to 90 days thereafter.
- The modification may be to Self-Employment Residency or Employment Residency.
- The modification is granted retroactively, i.e., from the day following the expiration of the previous residence.
- You do not lose the continuity of residency, one ends and the other begins immediately. Therefore, you continue counting the time for the Spanish nationality.
- The modification has a duration of TWO years and will be renewable for FOUR more years.
- With this Modification you can apply for Family Reunification.
