Possible reforms to the immigration regulations

A draft has been presented with possible reforms to the current immigration regulations, among some of the proposals presented are:

Improvements in the applications for Arraigos:

  • Social: Allow the presentation of several employment contracts.
  • Labor: Allow access to those who contributed as self-employed.
  • Family: Allow access to spouses, ascendants and descendants over 21 years of age who are dependents of the Spanish citizen.

A new Arraigo is included:

ROOTEDNESS FOR TRAINING: Foreigners may obtain a provisional authorization, for a period of 12 months, if they can prove that they have been in Spain continuously for two years. Provided that he/she commits himself/herself to carry out a regulated training for employment or professional qualification necessary for the exercise of a specific occupation.

In addition, it is proposed:

  • Modify the Catalog of Difficult to Fill Occupations.
  • Improve the operation of the Foreigners' Offices.
  • Increase in working hours for students, who would be able to work from 20 to 30 hours per week.
