Acquire nationality through your grandparents?

Every day we are asked if being a grandchild of a Spaniard you can apply directly for Spanish nationality, so I tell you that currently NO! there is no way to acquire Spanish nationality just for being a grandchild of a Spaniard of origin.

But you do have access to certain advantages for being the grandchild of a native Spaniard, among them:

• You will be able to apply for Spanish nationality BY RESIDENCE, since you will only have to have a legal residence in Spain for ONE YEAR and there you will have the right to initiate your nationality process.
• You will be able to apply for a work visa from your country of origin, since the national employment situation allows the hiring of foreign citizens NOT residing in Spain, who can prove that they are grandchildren of Spanish nationals.
